The Faculty of Sociology was founded in 1996 on the basis of the Department of Sociology within of the Faculty of Philosophy.
Over the years the Faculty has trained over 900 graduates.
There are three basic majors offered by three departments: Department of Theory and History of Sociology, Department of Applied Sociology, Department of Political Sociology and Social Technologies.
The Faculty employs highly qualified specialists and members of international and national sociological associations: 1 corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 19 Dr. hab.’s, 21 Ph.D.’s.
The Faculty offers B.A. programs (“Sociology of Marketing”, “Sociology of Politics and Public Relations), M.A. programs (“Political Consulting” and “Management Consulting and Social Technologies”) as well as Ph.D. tracks.
An independent academic school of the “Sociology of Life” has developed at the Faculty; the tradition of continuity of academic generations is maintained by carrying out research and academic publishing.
The Faculty upholds the practice of conducting ongoing academic and educational seminars, international and national conferences.
Faculty and students actively participate in conducting research; they participate in conferences and round tables, publish their research, organize creative competitions and intern in various organizations.
