International symposium “Open Pages in South Asian studies – IV”

Shivaji University (Kolhapur) in collaboration with the Russian State University for the Humanities (RSUH) organized a joint International symposium “Open Pages in South Asian studies – IV”.
This is the fourth symposium on interdisciplinary research organized by the RSUH.
The first and second symposiums were held at the RSUH in Moscow in 2011 and 2012, and in 2019 it was organized jointly with Gauhati University in Guwahati (Assam, India).
More than 70 participants took part in the symposium, including 55 speakers.
Welcome address was given by prof. D.T. Schierke, rector of Shivaji University, prof. Vera Ivanovna Zabotkina O., active Pro Vice-rector for International Cooperation of the Russian State Humanitarian University, Dr. Elena Sergeyevna Remizova, Director of the Russian House in Mumbai (Rossotrudnichestvo).
The event was also attended by Mr. Mikhail Ktitorov, Counsellor and Mr. Alexey Illuviev , Second secretary, Embassy of Russia to India.
Plenary reports were presented by:
Prof. Romila Thapar, famous Indian historian, professor emeritus Jawaharlal Nehru University (New Delhi( with the topic of the report: “Some thouths on the society we want”;
Prof. Ganesh Devi, a linguist and a founder of Adivasy Axademy, Gujarat.
Topic of the report: "The Gray zones in narratives of South Asian Civilization: language policy and interpretation of the past".
9 sections were presented within the framework of the main theme of the symposium "The contemporary dynamics of South Asia - 2022".
On November 29 and 30, within the framework of the Russian section, 30 Russian participants from the Russian State University for the Humanities, Institute of African and Asian Studies of the Lomonosov Moscow State University, Kazan Federal University (Tatarstan), St.Petersburg State University, The Institute of World Economy and International Relations, or IMEMO, Pscov State University, Pskov branch of the Academy of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia, the Center for Paleoethnological Research (Moscow), an independent researcher from Ivanovo city.
