“COVID-19 pandemic in India: statistics and facts” was discussed by Hindi group students of RSUH at the monthly student workshop

The topic about “COVID-19 pandemic in India: statistics and facts” was discussed by Hindi group students of RSUH at the monthly student workshop.

The 2nd year students Sofiya Kiseleva, Maria Skorobogatova, Amina Mukhaetkhanova, Ekaterina Moskalenko, Alena Plotnikova, Alina Fasakhova and the 3d year students of the Faculty of International relations and Area Studies made presentations on the following topics: regional fight features against a pandemic, the relationship between pandemic and civilization, indigenous tribes and their life during a pandemic.

Professor Alexander Stolyarov spoke about the main "thought factories" (Think Tank) in India and methods of selecting information on the websites of think tanks.
The Republic of India has become the second largest think tank in the world. Several Indian think tanks usually feature in the annual Global Go To Think Tank Index.

Dr Indira Gazieva presented a visual online map of the distribution of COVID-19 in the state of Assam (India) for 2020-2021. Thus students were able to assess pandemic trends for each month and discuss further forecast for the northeastern region of India.

Arina Novikova, 1st year MA student, presented statistical data on Registered Tribes.

The impact of the pandemic on the indigenous tribes of Assam was also discussed during the workshop. The students also analyzed statistics on immigration waves before the coronavirus outbreak and during the pandemic.
The workshop was aimed to develop professional and research competencies of the students who study Asian studies.
