“Uniting Continents!” Winter cultural - educational festival held at the Russian State University for the Humanities. The Festival united students and teachers from various Moscow universities.

Almost 60 students from various Moscow universities in expressed a desire to participate in this event.

Students who are studying Dutch showed the Sinterklaas festival dedicated to St. Nicholas. Mr. Sinterklaas is a majestic old man with a white beard and hair, wearing a red robe and miter, who rides a white horse.

St. Nicholas is the main character of the annual folk festival celebrated annually in the Netherlands and Belgium on December 5-6.

The Higher School of Economics students held an interactive quiz and presented the most interesting details of the Dutch New Year's holiday Sinterklaas.

The Asian and African Institute studies (MSU) students told about traditions and unusual facts inherent in the celebration of the New Year in Ethiopia. The students congratulated the guests in Swahili and sang a popular song in South Africa in Afrikaans.

The Spanish Language Group students spoke about the New Year traditions in Chile, when the country's residents perform certain rituals to bring lgood luck: a hearty dinner is obligatory, including stuffed turkey; one should eat a spoonful of lentils at midnight to ensure prosperity in the coming year and 12 grapes, the taste of which - from sweet to sour - will indicate what each month will be like. Chileans wear yellow clothes and walk with a suitcase to bring money for travel.

The Institute of Linguistics students told about the magical Christmas traditions of Spanish-speaking countries: the nativity scenes – Nacimientos, the tradition of the “Mass of the Rooster”, when the rooster crowed on the night of Jesus’ arrival; the Day of the Holy Innocents – Día de los Santos; the tradition of “Inns” or Las Posadas, celebrated in Mexico, Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Cuba, and Spain. The holiday is intended to perpetuate the memory of how Mary and Joseph traveled and looked for a place to give birth to Jesus.
