On April 1, 2024, RSUH hosted an open lecture by Ildar Neverov, General Director of the Arktikugol Trust, on the topic “Economic and business activities in Spitsbergen: diversification measures.”
First Vice-Rector Pavlenko addressed the participants with a welcoming speech, noting the important role of the Arktikugol Trust in ensuring the Russian presence in the Spitsbergen archipelago. She also drew attention to the fact that within the framework of the cooperation agreement signed in 2023 between RSUH and Arktikugol, this year the Faculty of International Relations, Political Science and Foreign Regional Studies of the IAI would be admitting students to the B.A. program in Arctic studies.
In his speech, Ildar Neverov focused on the main achievements of the trust in 2023. He noted that in April of this year, regular sea communications between the Russian Federation and the Spitsbergen archipelago was expected to open, which would expand the possibilities of organizing tourism to the archipelago.
