On April 2, the first day of the International Conference “Faces of Italian Culture” was held at RSUH, organized by the Russian-Italian Center of RSUH together with the Italian Institute of Culture in Moscow.
Vice-Rector Shkarenkov opened the meeting and delivered a welcoming speech. He noted the active work of the Russian-Italian Center and thanked its leaders for their fruitful work over many decades.
The speakers and guests of the event were greeted by Dr. Daniela Rizzi, Director of the Italian Institute of Culture in Moscow. She spoke of the close cooperation of the Italian Institute of Culture with the leading universities in the country.
The participants came from many higher educational institutions: RSUH, Moscow State University, Moscow State Linguistic University, Sinergia, Moscow State Pedagogical University and others. Presentations were given on the topics “Prepositions and verbal prefixes in Latin and Italian: diachrony and synchrony”, “Prospects for the corpora research of metaphor in Italian text”, “Translation of direct speech: Russian-Italian inconsistencies” and many others.
The literature of Italy was addressed in the presentations “Rhetoric and Expression of the Old Italian Version of St. Augustine’s Soliloquies”, “Narrator in the prose of Tarchetti”, “The traditional and the new views on education in the “Instructions on Family Affairs” of Giovanni Dominici” and others.
