Current issues in the theory and methodology of teaching Russian as a foreign language discussed at RSUH

On March 22–23, the IV All-Russian Conference “Linguistics and methodology in teaching Russian as a foreign language: modern trends and innovative technologies” was held at RSUH.

The list of participants included scholars from Moscow State University, State Institute of Russian Language, St. Petersburg State University, RSUH and representatives of the foreign academic community from Bulgaria, China, Japan, Armenia and other countries.

Daniil Gramotin, Head of the Department of Interregional and Interethnic Development of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, made a presentation “On current trends in international educational development”. At the plenary session, presentations were made on important issues in teaching international students, including modern approaches to organizing professionally oriented teaching of Russian as a foreign language using digital communication.

During the sections “Linguistic aspects of the study of Russian as a foreign language” and “Current issues of professionally oriented teaching of Russian as a foreign language at universities”, the participants discussed linguistic aspects of the description of the Russian language, methods, technologies, linguodidactic techniques for teaching Russian to foreign students in universities of the Russian Federation and abroad, and the complexity of the comparative description of phraseological units.

The second day of the conference saw the work of two sections: “Methodological and linguocultural aspects of teaching the Russian language to foreigners” and “Digital technologies and applied solutions in teaching Russian as a foreign language”, where issues of the linguoculturological approach to teaching foreign students from Bulgaria, Brazil, and China and other countries were discussed.

The conference ended with a plenary session, at which Russian scholars from Moscow State University and RSUH spoke on the fundamental issues of the theory and methodology of teaching Russian as a foreign language.
